Our love story is a bit crazy. We met 16 years ago when we were only 18 and became best friends. We were those friends that spent every moment together. We were wild, crazy, and care free. We were both in other relationships and Julie married the guy she was with at the time. I stood beside her as the maid of honor in her wedding and was there when her baby girl was born. We had no clue that the love we shared for each other was more than just friendship. When her daughter was almost 1 things changed. Our feelings grew stronger and we just couldn’t deny that friendship wasn’t all we wanted. We took that step and started dating while still in other relationships. We had a passion that couldn’t be denied and we couldn’t get enough of each other. It was the first time I had ever felt true love. We got careless and got caught by her husband and things took a major turn for the worse. This was 13 years ago and people were not as open to the gay and lesbian community, especially in our small town. Her husband and mother threatened to take her children from her if she didn’t stop seeing me. We were both young and scared and didn’t know what to do. I couldn’t stand the thought of being the reason she lost her children so we decided to end our relationship. It was the worst day of my life. I lost my best friend and the love of my life all at one time. I spent the next 13 years searching for what we had and never found it. We both got stuck in miserable relationships and we were never truly happy. In January of 2014 I had just got out of a horrible relationship and decided to send Julie a friend’s request on Facebook. The next night we spent 4 hours on the phone catching up. An hour into the conversation we both admitted that we had missed each other all this time and that we still loved each other. The next day we met up and spent some time together and then went to a party together that night. The moment she kissed me I knew I couldn’t let her go again. I had to do whatever it took to make her mine. Julie was still married so once again we found ourselves in the middle of an affair. It was a hard decision and we tried to fight it so no one would get hurt but the feelings we had were just too strong. We had been miserable for too long and didn’t want to waste any more time with the wrong people. It was like we were caught in a whirlwind and we didn’t have any control. We had fought our feelings for too long and our hearts didn’t want to let go this time. We moved fast for most people but for us we had been planning this moment for 13 years. She filed for divorce in April and we moved in together in July. She has two kids and so do I. We have a big crazy family and our house is always chaotic but we love every moment of it. Our four kids love both of us and are so excited for us to get married. She is without a doubt my soul mate and I couldn’t imagine my life without her. My heart still skips a beat every time I see her and every morning that I get to wake up next to her is a dream come true. I would love to give her the fairytale wedding she deserves.
